Frequently asked questions

What is JSON Craft?

JSON Craft is a free, all-in-one JSON toolkit that lets you edit, validate, format, compare, transform, and visualize JSON data directly in your browser. No signup or installation required.

How do I format or beautify JSON?

Paste your JSON into the Editor tab and click 'Format'. The tool parses and pretty-prints it with proper indentation. Click 'Minify' to compress it again.

Can I compare two JSON files?

Yes. Switch to the Diff tab, paste or upload two JSON documents, and click 'Compare'. You'll get a list of additions, removals, and modifications, plus a visual side-by-side comparison. The comparison is structural, so reordering keys doesn't produce false differences.

What transform operations are available?

Filter arrays, map fields, group by, sort, flatten, flatten nested objects, array-to-object and object-to-array conversion, sort by keys, remove empty values, and convert key case (camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case, PascalCase).

How does JSON visualization work?

The Visualize tab offers three views: a hierarchical tree graph, a table view for arrays of objects, and a bar chart for data containing numeric values.

Can I get the access path for a key?

Click any key in the Editor's tree view and JSON Craft generates the access path in JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, C#, Ruby, PHP, and Go. Keys containing quotes, dots, or brackets are escaped correctly for each language, and a real array index is distinguished from a numeric string key.

Is my data safe?

Formatting, diffing, transforming, visualizing, and key-path generation all happen entirely in your browser — that data is never sent anywhere. The one exception is the optional 'Fix with AI' button, which only runs when you explicitly click it.

Where is AI used in JSON Craft?

Only in 'Fix with AI'. When your JSON has syntax errors, that button appears in the error bar; clicking it sends the broken JSON over HTTPS to DeepSeek, a third-party AI provider, which returns a corrected version. We don't log or store your input, but it does leave your device — so don't use it on API keys, tokens, or personal data. Every other feature works entirely in your browser.
