Frequently asked questions
How do I generate a QR code?
Select your input type (URL, text, email, phone, Wi-Fi, or vCard), enter your data, and a QR code is generated instantly in real time. Click Download to save it as PNG, SVG, or JPEG.
Is this QR code generator free?
Yes, completely free. No signup, no limits, and no watermarks are added to your QR codes.
What data types can I encode?
URLs, plain text, email addresses (with optional subject and body), phone numbers, Wi-Fi credentials (SSID, password, encryption), and vCard contact information.
Can I customize the QR code colors and size?
Yes. Set custom foreground and background colors, and size the code from 128px to 1024px. Keep the modules darker than the background — an inverted code (light on dark) reads on most phone cameras but fails on many dedicated scanners, and the tool will warn you if you invert it.
What formats can I download the QR code in?
PNG, SVG, or JPEG. SVG is ideal for print and scaling. Note that a centre logo can only be embedded in PNG and JPEG — the SVG export does not include it, and the tool tells you when that applies.
Is my data safe?
QR code generation happens entirely in your browser. What you encode is never sent to any server. Your input is auto-saved to your browser's local storage so a refresh doesn't lose it — that never leaves your device, but it does include Wi-Fi passwords and contact details, so use the "Clear saved input" button if you're on a shared computer.
What error correction level should I use?
Error correction lets a QR code stay scannable when partially damaged. "L" (7%) is fine for digital screens, "M" (15%) is a balanced default, and "Q" (25%) or "H" (30%) suit printed codes that may be scuffed or partly covered. Higher levels hold less data, so very long content may need a lower one.
Can I generate a Wi-Fi QR code?
Yes. Select the Wi-Fi tab, enter your network name (SSID), password, and encryption type. Most smartphones can scan the result to join the network automatically. Special characters in the SSID or password are escaped correctly.
