Split PDF
Extract page ranges or burst a PDF into one file per page. Runs in your browser, so your file never touches a server.
Files stay on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
Frequently asked questions
How do I split a PDF for free?
Drop your PDF onto the upload area, choose whether to extract a page range or burst every page into its own file, then click Split PDF. Range extraction downloads a single PDF; one-file-per-page downloads a ZIP. No signup and no watermark.
Can I extract specific pages from a PDF?
Yes. Pick "Extract a page range" and enter pages as a comma-and-dash list, for example "1-3, 5, 8-10". The pages come out in ascending order in a single PDF, and duplicates are ignored.
What gets preserved in the split files?
Page content is copied exactly: text, vector graphics, images, and embedded fonts. Document-level structure around the pages — bookmarks, form fields, and cross-page links — is not carried over, because each output is a fresh document containing only the pages you asked for.
Why is the ZIP bigger than my original PDF?
Because each single-page PDF has to embed every font and image that its page uses. A font shared by 50 pages was stored once in the original and now appears in 50 files. We compress the ZIP to offset it, but bursting a large document will still produce more bytes than you started with.
Can it split password-protected PDFs?
No. The PDF library we use in the browser cannot decrypt documents, so we detect encrypted files when you add them and stop. Splitting one anyway would produce pages that are blank in every reader. Remove the password first.
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. Splitting happens entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Your file never leaves your device.
